Hordes of the Things (HOTT for short) is a fantasy version of DBA. DBA is a fast play wargame for ancient and medieval armies which requires only 12 bases of figures per side. HOTT is more flexible and allows the addition of Magicians, Dragons, Fliers and Heroes. This allows armies to be fielded which represent those from mythology, fantasy or history.

Designing and building an army for Hordes of the Things (HOTT) is one of the more enjoyable aspects of this game system.
There are no compulsory army lists that you must follow and the composition of the army is entirely up to your own ideas. Although many ideas are listed in the rule book, there is plenty of scope for your own unique army.
You can base it on any genre, whether fantasy or historical, and shape the army according to your tactics and style of play.

In Hordes of the Things (HOTT) players alternate turns in a move / counter-move system. In their own turn a player starts by rolling a six-sided dice to determine their Player Initiative Points (PIPs). PIPs determine the number of actions a player may make that turn. These actions are to move elements, cast spells or perform some special actions.

In Hordes of the Things (HOTT) magic has a subtle influence. It will not win you a battle by itself.
It is another weapon in your arsenal which must be co-ordinated with the rest of your army in order to bring you success.
