January 1st 2010
December 31st. The night of much merry making. Perhaps some quiet drinking. And, of course, New Year's resolutions.
Some decide to stop smoking. Others to lose weight. Some to get married and some to travel the world. Me, I decided 2010 would be the year of cutting back to just two types of gaming.
See how the Easy Strayed Wargamer survived January.

The first meeting at Mitcham for the year was a roaring success. A great turnout with lots of people and lots of games. The venue renovations are complete, including a shiny new floor.
The committee was kept busy fixing the trestle trolley, accepting membership fees and greeting members. Everyone had a chance to catch up with what they had done over the break. Thanks to the Committee and Neil for helping with the trolley, Sean for kicking off in the kitchen and John for fundraising.

A great turnout with lots of different games - historical, fantasy and science fiction. Brendan put on the Making Barricades tutorial and provided a huge bits box to allow this to happen.

The second sale night for the year was held at Mitcham on Friday night the 11th September 2009. Many club members were able to multi-task: hunt for bargains as well as play a good wargame or two. It was great to see so many visitors to the club, whether they were buyers, sellers, browsers or just there for a chat.

NWA's first meeting of the year was at the Croydon venue on Saturday 23rd January. This was the first opportunity to find out what members had been doing over the Christmas break. And laugh at the optimistic New Year's resolution. These often involve painting all the figures tucked away in drawers before buying any new ones. A noble aim, but one that wargamers have been failing at for many years. There were also a few new faces welcomed to the club to start off the year.

October is always the month of Cheeze at NWA. Cheezecon is a series of fun "tournaments". Aimed at getting people to try games they don't normally play, or only play occasionally, or for the experienced to have a bit of a laugh.
Warhammer 40K, Lord of the Rings, Warhammer Fantasy, Necromunda and many more "tournaments" were run with prizes won for not doing really well!
