NECROMUNDA - Voted 2nd Best Table

In the depths of the Underhive, monstrous creatures are born in the mutating wastes. Unlucky gangs that run foul of these abominations must fight a desperate battle for their lives. Small gangs must fight for survival in the dark and foreboding future where survival is the only thing that matters.

Necromunda is a futuristic skirmish game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Gangs of 12 battle it out, so it is easy to put a lot of detail and personality into a gang or put together more than one gang.

Brendan Day and James Wright worked very hard all year, continually adding interesting pieces to this fantastic display. A lot of thought has gone into each piece, so that the terrain is very flexible and can be put together in many different ways. It is often seen at the club in many different guises.

They deservedly won a lot of interest for their display. Look closely at the photos. See if you recognise some of the many items that have ingeniously been put to use as scenery. Particularly good is the scratch built creature - "It came from the sump!".

WARMACHINE

Many of NWA's science fantasy players have discovered Warmachine™. Set in the Iron Kingdoms, an environment that combines the best of traditional fantasy with steam-power and gunpowder. Across the realm, ancient rivalries among nations are exploding into all-out conflict.

Warmachine focuses on battles between warcasters and the titanic forces that they control. A game is fought with a warjack's thundering cannons, ripping iron claws and crushing hammer blows, as well as devastating spells wrought by the commanding warcaster.

When the dust settles, one side is victorious and the other is nothing but smoking scrap metal.

Ash and Adam put on this display. As you can see in the photos, the models look spectacular when well painted, especially when set off amongst great looking terrain.

WARHAMMER 40K

Welcome to the game of Warhammer 40K, where the aim of every player is to pit their force of miniatures against other players across war-torn futuristic battlefields in the year 40,000.

To show a wider range from the huge selection of figures from Games Workshop, the board was divided into two smaller battle. In one battle the Imperial Guard take on the Tyranids; an insect like alien race. In the other battle, the robotic Necrons are pitted against the Tau.

Win or lose, all battles try to be entertaining challenges in which you try to out-think and out-play your opponent. While taking advantage of any good luck that comes your way, you ultimately rely upon a carefully crafted army list and sound tactics to win the day.

A last minute but welcome addition to our open day was the team from Bendigo United Gaming Group (BUGG).

They had on display a fascinating range of science fantasy creatures as you can see in these photos.
