How To Beat an Elephant Indian Style.

Here is a challenge for you gamers out there who like to get the “Green Stuff” out and do a bit of fancy modelling.

Did you know that the Rajput of Udaipur’s (Southern Rajasthan in India) armies were been smashed by his all conquering Mogul enemies due to the power of their Elephants? Now there were a few ways you could combat the Elephant one of the more popular ways been to place huge massive spikes on the front gate of your Fortress so the Elephants could not be used to ram the gate down.

What if you wanted to stop them before they got to your home turf? Well, the big problem was the Elephants would just bash the poor horses of the Rajput Cavalry away with their trunks and tusks. Hmmm what to do, pondered the Rajput of Udaipur.

What did he come up with? Dress the Horses up as Elephants!

Yep that’s right put a fake trunk on the Horse and charge the Elephants that will confuse them no end. Did this tactic work? Udaipur was one of the last Rajput bastion in Rajasthan so perhaps it did.

To field this idea in DBA the army you would be looking at is Hindu Indian 545AD-1510AD army list. Perhaps all Cav, LH and Kn with fake trunks should get a +1 against Elephants in DBA? Now I just need some Elephant costumes for my Ps and Ax and I can start rewriting history.

Happy Modelling!
