Hello and welcome to DBA at NWA.

DBA is published by the Wargames Research Group and is a fast play set of rules for Ancient and Medieval wargaming. Each army consists of 12 bases of figures and a camp.

We have a gang of 8 or so regulars (sometimes more) who Play DBA at the club, mainly at the Friday night meetings, every now and then you might find a couple us DBAing at the Saturday meetings as well.

As well as DBA we often get a big game of double or triple “Giant” DBA going. Always good fun and the mass of troops on the board looks great. You might also find us dabbling in HOTT (Hordes of the Things); the Fantasy version of DBA. But that is another story.

Every year there has been a campaign running. In 2007 we are all off to the Holy Land to try and wrestle Jerusalem from the clutch of the Saracens. We have whipped up a Crusader army each and a few of us have gone over the top and painted up the Turk, Arab, Armenian or Byzantine armies as well.

2006’s campaign “Friends, Romans, Countrymen” saw each player painting up a Marion Roman army to help spread the might of Rome and convert the great unwashed to Pax Roma.

In 2005 it was Japan that was the sight of many a battle as the players tried their best to become the Shogun of that Nation of Islands. There is some talk that 2008 will see us back on the Old Dart dabbling in the War of the Roses but only time will tell.

Excuse me, is that a parrot on your head? Colourful Aztec warrior in 28mm from Eureka miniatures.

The General was confused trying to understand other rules, so he threw those away and quickly learnt DBA.

The club runs one or two DBA tournaments each year that sees not only club members but members from other clubs battle it out for some ripper prizes. At the last tournament around 20 players took part in a fun night with awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Best Painted Army, Guts and Glory (Highest ranked army with no Knights or Jumbo’s) and of course a prize for last.

If you want to join in come along to a Friday meeting and come see us, you will generally find us up on the stage, if not ask at the door and they guys will show you where we can be found. If you don’t have an army come along for a game or chat you’re more than welcome.
